Napoli stops again: draw with Torino. And the pursuit of Champions gets complicated

Share

A draw that displeases everyone and above all makes the pursuit of a Champions League spot increasingly difficult. Napoli cannot do better than a 1-1 draw against Torino: Kvaratskhelia's goal that gave them the lead momentarily lasts just 4 minutes and Sanabria, with an overhead kick, secures the final score.

Calzona launches Ostigard from the 1st minute alongside Juan Jesus, in defense of the usual Meret's goal. The full-backs are Di Lorenzo and Mario Rui, preferred to Olivera.

In midfield the trio Anguissa-Lobotka-Zielinski is recomposed while Politano and Kvaratskhelia are the attacking wingers to support Osimhen. Juric (suspended) responds with his 3-4-1-2: between the posts Milinkovic-Savic, Buongiorno leader of the defensive trio completed by Masina and Djidji.

Bellanova and Rodriguez as midfielders, with Linetty and Gineitis in midfield. Vlasic lines up in the three-quarter line to support Zapata and the surprise Pellegri.

Politano invents, Kvara wastes.

At 45′ Napoli and Torino are 0-0

The Azzurri started off strong, thanks also to an inspired Politano. The winger caused panic with a series of dribbles and one of these, in the 14th minute, put Kvaratskhelia in goal: the Georgian, however, wasted a one-on-one with Milinkovic-Savic, who was good at blocking the ball on the way out and deflecting it into a corner.

In the 24th minute, Osimhen tries with a header from a corner: the Nigerian rises between two but the ball ends up just wide. A ringing bell from the Granata in the 28th minute: a lack of concentration between Lobotka and Zielinski frees Zapata who shoots hard from the edge, a great response from Meret in a dive to save the result.

A slower pace phase follows, in which the two attackers are cautioned, Zapata on one side and Osimhen on the other. The last great chance of the first half, however, goes to Napoli, in the 43rd minute, again with Kvaratskhelia.

Well done also in this case Politano who from the right finds the Georgian with a soft cross, nice diving header from the number 77 which however finds a great response from Milinkovic-Savic. The half-time break is 0-0.

All in 4′: Kvara opens the scoring, Sanabria equalizes.

Draw between Naples and Turin

Slow pace at the start of the second half: the first 15 minutes are lacking in excitement, the usual Politano tries from outside and Anguissa on a throw from Osimhen, but nothing happens. The match then lights up in the 61st minute: great counterattack by the Azzurri, launched and concluded by Kvara who receives Mario Rui's cross in the area and beats Milinkovic-Savic on the fly with a flat shot for 1-0.

The response from Toro comes suddenly, after just 4 minutes: Zapata heads a corner, double rebound in the area and the ball becomes good for the new entrant Sanabria, who all alone with an overhead kick from two steps out fools Meret for the immediate equaliser. First changes for Calzona who brings on Traorè and Raspadori.

Napoli tries with their heads down in the final half hour: Kvara is among the most inspired and threatens Milinkovic-Savic from outside, Osimhen also tries from a tight angle. The Nigerian then protests twice for contacts in the area, not sanctioned by Orsato, which also infuriates the whole Maradona.

Toro resists: it ends 1-1.
