In Casal di Principe, a statue dedicated to Don Peppe Diana, the priest killed by the Casalesi clan, made by his colleague Don Battista Marello, was inaugurated. The discovery took place during the day dedicated to scouts, so dear to the heart of Don Peppe Diana, in the new wing of the cemetery of Casal di Principe.
Mayor Renato Natale, present at the inauguration, underlined the importance of this commemoration, also recalling the inauguration years before of the first monument dedicated to the priest. The presence of Don Peppe's brothers, Marisa and Emilio, made the event even more significant.
The statue was blessed by Don Franco Picone, vicar of the Bishop of Aversa and parish priest of the Church of San Nicola di Bari, the place where Don Diana was killed. Over five thousand scouts from different Italian regions participated in the march in his honor through the streets of Casal di Principe, showing their respect and admiration for the priest martyr of legality.
Don Diana was a scout and left an important message of redemption and hope, inherited by today's scouts who continue to spread the values of legality and freedom for which he fought. The presence of the scouts in Casal di Principe testifies to their commitment to promoting the memory and legacy of Don Peppe Diana, encouraging young people to follow his example and fight against all forms of abuse.
Scout educators emphasize the importance of constantly transmitting Don Diana's values, so that they remain alive in the daily lives of the children and can contribute to the formation of responsible and aware citizens. The commitment of the scouts in Casal di Principe represents a tribute to the memory of Don Peppe, who has profoundly marked the community and the territory, favoring a rebirth based on the principles of legality and civil commitment.
