Create a school of violin making with the aim of teaching and spreading the art of designing, building and restoring bowed string instruments (violins, cellos, double basses, etc.) and plucked string instruments (guitars, basses, mandolins, etc.). This is the goal of the Proloco Ortodonico, reiterated on the occasion of the third edition of “Cilento Battente”, the festival/gathering dedicated to the chitarra battente that took place over the weekend of 20 and 21 April in the charming medieval village of the hamlet of Montecorice.
Already the promoter of a violin-making workshop, founded in 2014 and named after the famous violin makers De Luccia di Casigliano, under the direction of the violin maker Alfonso Toscano, the Proloco Ortodonico continues the path of valorizing local traditions, to be translated into opportunities especially for the younger ones.
The festival/gathering, artistically curated by the talented maestro Gianluca Zammarelli, is part of the “MelInCammino” project of the Proloco Ortodonico, Stella Cilento and S. Mango Piemonte.
The notes of the chitarra battente resonated within the ancient walls of the village, welcoming players from different regions of Southern Italy. In addition to the performances, the program included book presentations, lutherie workshops and entertainment for the little ones, thus creating an inclusive and engaging experience for all participants.
Among the guests, in addition to maestro Zammarelli, Ciro Caliendo, Paolo Apolito (three musician companions), Catello and Hiram, Andrea Bressi, Alessio Bressi, Di Carlo, Megna, Nido, the all'usoantico and many others.
“This gathering and festival of chitarra battente stood out for its ability to transport visitors on a journey through time, celebrating the roots and stories passed down from generation to generation. – commented, at the end of the event, the president of Proloco, Paolo Menza – It was a tribute to the creativity, music and beauty of Cilento, which left an indelible mark in the hearts of all those who participated. We continue, therefore, our path aimed at the birth of a real school of violin making, intended as a place of training but also of economic development”.
