Gravina and Spalletti look to the future and to young people

Share

After the disappointing outcome of the European competition and a night of intense discussions, the president of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina, and the national coach, Luciano Spalletti, declare themselves determined to continue their multi-year project.

While admitting their responsibilities and recognizing the need to find remedies, both reiterate their desire to maintain the three-year project, without resignations or radical upheavals.

Gabriele Gravina, during the post-elimination press conference, expressed his intention not to abandon the path undertaken, despite the disappointment of being eliminated in the round of 16 against Switzerland.

Gravina insisted on the need to review the approach but defended the work done so far, stressing that it would not be right to throw everything away.

He also reiterated his confidence in coach Luciano Spalletti, deeming it unacceptable to abandon a project after only 8-9 months of work.

A key point in Gravina's speech was the lack of valorization of young Italian talents at Serie A clubs. He urged clubs to give more space to young Azzurri players, criticizing the fact that many Primavera teams are composed almost exclusively of foreign players.

Gravina highlighted the importance of having patience and investing in young people, believing that the pursuit of immediate results often hinders the development of national talent.

Luciano Spalletti, at his side, admitted his responsibilities for the failure but expressed his desire to start from scratch. The Tuscan coach declared that he wants to continue working to revive the national team and give it a distinctive imprint. Spalletti believes in the need to further rejuvenate the squad and firmly believes in the possibility of regenerating the group through a game and well-defined actions.

Spalletti made it clear that, despite recent difficulties, he intends to proceed with the project of rejuvenation and the formation of a cohesive and strong team. He stressed the importance of giving space to new players like Calafiori and of having faith in the potential of young athletes.

This path, according to Spalletti, will transform the current failure into a resource to build a better team for the future.

Despite the disappointment and criticism, both Gravina and Spalletti are determined to continue their work with the national team, convinced that the long-term project will bring the desired results.

Their determination and commitment are encouraging for the entire Italian football movement, which sees the future as a chance for redemption and success.
