The Caivano Legalitaria Association against the University in Afragola: “Hands off Caivano’s money”

Controversy erupts between Caivano and Afragola for the management of some funds destined for cultural development.

“We were greatly surprised to learn that some funds intended for our community, specifically 2,5 million euros allocated from the FSC 2014-2020 funds for CIS financing, were assigned, through an agreement signed by the prefectural commissioners, the Extraordinary Commissioner for the redevelopment of Caivano and the University “Federico II”, to the establishment of a Center of Competence for students, entrepreneurs and operators of the Third Sector and to promote new opportunities for work and economic development called “Urban Regeneration Factory”.

The whole thing should be built not in Caivano but in Afragola inside a property confiscated from organised crime and already in possession of the Municipality of Afragola.

We cannot accept such a snub. On September 15, 2023, the Meloni Government passed a decree that takes the name of our beloved city. A name that has shamed the entire healthy part of our community.

A name that has forever labeled us as criminals, camorristi and in silence we accepted that the Government appoint an Extraordinary Commissioner who could administer the funds dedicated to the redevelopment and redevelopment of our territory.

However, we never imagined that once again, Caivano could be used to benefit other territories and other interests.

The two and a half million stolen from Caivano and donated to Afragola, during the Enzo Falco council, had been diverted to the redevelopment of the piezometric tower of the Parco Verde, because the original project of the Competence Center that was to be built within the ASI area of ​​Caivano ran aground over time.

We therefore ask the Prefectural Commissioners and the Extraordinary Government Commissioner that the University Competence Centre of “Federico II” be built right in the building of the piezometric tower of the Parco Verde.

A vision that exponentially improves the idea of ​​Afragola, since in the location we have indicated, unlike the one in Afragola, it will be possible to use a large parking lot, it will be possible to establish a legality garrison in a degraded neighborhood and therefore it will be useful for the social and cultural redevelopment of the Parco Verde and the funds used will return to having their original, primary and priority purpose".
