They attacked and threatened Borrelli: two illegal parking attendants sentenced

They threatened and attacked the then regional councilor Francesco Emilio Borrelli, now a member of parliament, even trying to run him over. More than five years after that episode, the two illegal parking attendants were sentenced to six months in prison without suspension of the sentence, in addition to the payment of legal costs and compensation for damages towards the injured party. Borrelli was assisted by the lawyer Stefano Paparella.

The facts date back to March 3, 2019, when Borrelli was in the Santa Lucia area to document the activity of illegal parking attendants during an inspection. Discovered while being filmed, the two men began to rant against him, moving on to threats and subsequently chasing him. At a certain point, one of them approached him at high speed on a scooter, attempting to run him over and hitting him with a spike.

Borrelli immediately alerted the police, triggering the complaint. “It took more than five years, but justice has finally been done. This is the tenth conviction I have managed to obtain thanks to my complaints.“, commented the MP.

Borrelli then underlined the importance of his commitment against the unauthorized parking: “Mine is a battle of public utility. Removing certain individuals from the streets is good for the entire community, and more and more citizens share my ideas and my modus operandi. This result demonstrates two things: reporting is useful and, if everyone did it, there would be far fewer problems on the streets.

However, the complaints would be more effective and immediate if the regulations were different. I cannot intervene alone in all the critical areas, nor take on all the complaints. I have developed a plan and regulatory proposals to combat the phenomenon, but the government majority does not consider it important to address the issue”.
