Five convictions with abbreviated procedure: it is the first hard judicial blow inflicted on the so-called paranza of the Marigliano clan, accused of having spread terror in the Case Nuove, in Naples, to take control of the criminal business in the area.
The armed group, in January 2024, had opened fire with an assault rifle in via Antonio Toscano, wounding two people in the crowd. A ruthless action, which only by chance did not turn into a massacre.
The investigating judge of the Court of Naples, accepting the requests of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, issued the following sentences:
Gennaro Leone: 13 years and 4 months
Joseph Marigliano: 13 years and 4 months
Oval Jennssi Ortega: 13 years and 4 months
Antonio Sorrentino: 4 years and 8 months
Angelo Esposito: 3 years and 8 months
The five were accused, to varying degrees, of possession of weapons of war and attempted murder aggravated by mafia methods. In particular, Marigliano and Ortega were held responsible for the Injury of 18-year-old Nicola Giuseppe Moffa and 68-year-old Adele V., hit respectively in the leg and in the buttock during the shooting.
The investigative breakthrough came in record time: thanks to the cameras and confidential sources, the investigators of the Flying Squad managed to track down and block eight suspects in an apartment in Poggioreale, a few hours after the ambush.
The same Moffa, a few days after the attack, he was arrested on charges of another shooting, a sign of an endless criminal feud that exploded in 2021 against members linked to the Contini clan. A spiral of violence that continues to bloody the streets of the city center, as confirmed by the recent ambushes that, in less than 48 hours, have caused three more injuries.
The sentence, although not definitive, represents a first concrete step in the repression of the feud at New housesThe next legal moves of the defense remain to be seen: an appeal is not excluded.
