Aversa – A white truck parked in a suspicious position along the slip road that connects the SP 335 to the municipality of Aversa attracted the attention of the Marcianise Forestry Carabinieri during a check aimed at combating environmental crimes.

On board the vehicle, the military found two people and a load of end-of-life tires (ELT) from trucks, all in an evident state of deterioration.
The two transporters, however, did not have any documentation justifying the possession or movement of such waste. Furthermore, the truck was not registered in the Register of Environmental Managers, making the transport completely illegal.
The two were reported at large for illegal waste management, while the vehicle and the load were seized. The episode takes on particular relevance because, only a few days ago, in the same area, the Forestry Commission had discovered an abandoned pile of tires that, if set on fire, could have caused serious environmental damage.
If disposed of illegally, PFU represent a threat to the ecosystem: in addition to being highly polluting, they release toxic substances when burned. Investigations are ongoing to verify any links with other illegal activities in the area.
