Jabil, ultimatum from the company: a new protest begins

Share

Marcianise – High tension in the plant Jabil of Marcianise, where a company “ultimatum” has triggered a new, vehement reaction from workers. This morning, the workforce has once again crossed its arms, blocking production for an hour in open protest.

The fuse was the letter with which the management of the US multinational set May 6 as the deadline for submitting incentivized resignations intended for those employees who do not intend to transfer to Tme, the company designated by Jabil for the acquisition of the Caserta site and its 408 employees.

The offer on the table includes an “exodus incentive” quantified in 30 thousand euros gross for those who give up unemployment, a figure that drops to 10 thousand euros otherwise.

Jabil, in its communication, specified that the adhesions to the voluntary exit program will be evaluated "within the limits defined by the technical, organizational and production needs of the company", attaching the adhesion form to be filled out by the peremptory deadline.

The company also warned that failure to comply or the presentation of alternative solutions will be interpreted as a preference for transfer to Tme.

The union response was not long in coming. The Representatives of the Union (RSU) denounced in a note what they define as a “new provocation” by a company that formalizes the options for incentivized resignations suggested by the Ministry.

As for the plan to sell to Tme, already endorsed by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso after the meeting on April 16, the RSU firmly reiterated its opposition: "This plan does not interest us! All employees have already rejected all the alternative options proposed [...] and continue to defend the industrial garrison, certain of the possibility of a consolidation and relaunch of the mission within the multinational.

Our legal offices are ready for the necessary appeals. We are tired of being harassed on a daily basis and attacked in our dignity as professionals and Italian citizens, but our fight is only just beginning and you will soon discover where our determination will lead!”. The Jabil dispute is increasingly taking shape as a high-intensity arm wrestling match, with the future of hundreds of workers hanging in the balance.
