Naples – Arcangelo Trongone, the boss of Piazza Borsa known as “Little Angel”, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Second Section of the Court of Assizes of Naples for the murder of Gennaro Fittipaldi, killed with a shot to the back of the head on the morning of 18 May 2015 in via Chiavettieri al Porto, a few steps from the Federico II University.

According to the prosecution, Trongone allegedly ordered and physically carried out the murder of Fittipaldi, 24 year old convicted felon, to punish his passage to the Sibillo clan, thus abandoning the group of Amendola Palace, the boss's historic fiefdom.
The investigations, which took a decisive turn in end of January 2023, were based on the statements of several collaborators of justice, among which Vincent Amirante, former head of the Maddalena, and Mark Mariano, historical boss of the Spanish Quarters.
Added to these were the revelations of the former head of Catalan Street, Antonio Primo, which confirmed Trongone's role in the murder.
Trongone, considered one of the prominent exponents of organized crime in the historic center of Naples, is not new to homicide investigations. In the past he had also been involved in the death of Francis Terracciano, but was later acquitted, returning to freedom in 2019.
This time, however, justice left him no escape. According to investigators, Fittipaldi was killed because "traitor", having joined a rival coalition formed by the clans Sibillo, Giuliano, Amirante and Brunetti, with the support of the groups Porcino-Martinelli, already linked to Mariano.
The murder would have served to reassert control on the areas of the Goldsmiths, from the Chiaia Baretti and adjacent areas to Amendola Palace e Catalan Street. That morning in 2015, a single gunshot ended Fittipaldi's life, but it also marked the beginning of a long tug-of-war between justice and one of Naples' most feared bosses.
Now, after eight years of investigations, Archangel Trongone will have to serve a life sentence. But the boss, who has always proclaimed his innocence, may not have said his last word yet.
