Art and Poetry in the Name of Peace and Freedom: Friday 25th April in Alvignano

Share

In an era of global tensions that threaten to blow up peace, Mulino Bencivenga in the heart of the Alvignano countryside is transformed into an epicenter of culinary and artistic rebellion, with the “Pace e Pane” event that promises to mix bread and protest in an explosive mix.

A Gathering of Rebel Artists

On Friday, April 25, artists and galleries in Campania such as Il Laboratorio, Spazio Amira, Spazio Vitale, Galleria Studio Legale, Frame Ars Artes, Centometriquadri, Arterrima Contemporary and Pagea Arte Contemporanea will unite in a bold collective, dialoguing with the permanent collection of the Mulino. This initiative, born from the passion of the patron Lorenzo Di Guglielmo for contemporary art and the local territory, transforms bread from a simple food into a crude and irreverent symbol of civilization and peace, just as the world is shaking in geopolitical chaos.

The Controversial Symbol of the “Bread of Peace”

Site-specific installations and verses inspired by the “Bread of Peace” – a provocative gesture conceived by Angelica Calò Livnè and Samar Sahha, where 50 Israeli women and 50 Palestinian women met to bake bread together – will bring a touch of international drama. Guests will be greeted by a welcome ceremony with a Middle Eastern and Slavic flavor, with pieces of organic whole wheat bread, made from ancient stone-ground Risciola wheat, dipped in salt for a welcome that does not leave anyone indifferent.

Debates and Meetings

Scontrosi The day will include readings and discussions with speakers from Prof. Antonio Sgambati, Prof. Margherita Romano, art historian Annalisa Mazzola and, via video link, Jak Arbib, President of the Museum of Italian Jewish Art in Jerusalem. Host and entrepreneur Lorenzo Di Guglielmo uses the event to celebrate bread as an emblem of conviviality between conflicting cultures, in an organic agricultural context that challenges the norms of the modern world.
