The court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere sentenced Francesco Tiberio La Torre, cousin of the Caserta Camorra boss Augusto La Torre, to 12 years in prison for attempted extortion against regional councilor Giovanni Zannini and entrepreneurs Alfredo and Pasquale Campoli.
The sentence, imposed by the first section presided over by Giovanni Caparco, is slightly less than the 15 years requested by the prosecutor of the Naples DDA, Roberto Patscot, during the closing speech on April 11.
The trial arose from the complaints of Zannini, to whom La Torre had asked 50 thousand euros with specious compensation requests, and of Alfredo Campoli, forced to pay 22 thousand euros in a chapel of the local cemetery. La Torre had been arrested in May 2024 for these episodes
