Torre del Greco, 13-year-old girl saves her mother from her father's violence

Torre del Greco – A story of unexpected courage and lucidity, that of Luisa (fictitious name), a 13 year old girl who, during the night, was able to face the fury of her violent father, protecting her mother and little brothers and putting an end to a domestic nightmare.

The 37-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco Mobile Radio Unit. The incident came to a dramatic end in the middle of the night.

He broke the window glass and entered the house with a screwdriver

The father, now separated from his wife after a relationship marked by insults, threats and violence, culminating with a kick to the woman's stomach, broke into the house. Furious, he shattered the glass of a window, creating panic among the children, including Luisa, and her 9-year-old sister and two brothers aged 5 and a few months.

The man headed toward his ex-wife's room, attacking her. With one hand around the woman's neck and a rusty screwdriver in the other, he threatened to kill her. Faced with this terrifying scene, Luisa showed surprising maturity. Fighting back tears, she hugged her terrified siblings and very calmly grabbed the phone to call for help, positioning herself behind her father.

In a calm, almost adult voice, she begged her parent to calm down, promising to “fix things” and find an excuse to explain the broken glass to the other family members. “Go away,” she told her father, “otherwise you won’t be able to see anymore.” A desperate but firm appeal that dented the man’s fury.

Her unexpected determination paid off: the man loosened his grip and, still clutching the screwdriver, left the house. Just seven minutes later, the Carabinieri, alerted by Luisa, intercepted him in the street. The 37-year-old was immediately arrested and taken to prison. He will now face charges of domestic violence , criminal damage, and trespassing.

Luisa's story is a dramatic warning about domestic violence, but also a moving example of how courage and determination, even from a child, can break the chain of violence.
