Traffic paralyzed for hours and risk of health problems under the sun: this is the outcome of the first day of great influx towards the beaches of the Phlegraean and Domitian areas.
To deal with the situation, the Prefecture of Napoli called a summit with local authorities and law enforcement, at the end of which an extraordinary plan was announced to regulate access to the coasts and combat illegal parking.
Prefect Michele di Bari announced that the mayor of Pozzuoli will soon issue an ordinance that will prohibit entry to the beaches after 17:20 p.m., allowing access only for authorized activities from XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. onwards. Similar measures are also being studied for Giugliano, where the use of volunteers to provide assistance to bathers is also being evaluated.
At the summit, which was also attended by the heads of the police forces and the Prefecture of Caserta, a crackdown on indiscriminate parking was decided: cars parked illegally will be removed without exception. The plan will be supported by increased controls, with the strengthening of local police forces at critical points of access to the sea.
A joint action necessary, it was underlined, to avoid that the inconveniences experienced in these hours turn into emergencies with the increase in temperatures and tourist flow.
