Benevento, the “Metropolitan City of Sannio” is born: the protocol between 16 Municipalities has been signed

A pact for the development of the territory was signed today at Palazzo Mosti, where the mayors of Benevento and 15 other municipalities of the Sannio they signed the memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the “Metropolitan City of Sannio” Vast Area.

The agreement, which aims to rationalize resources and services, also involves the Extraordinary Commissioner of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo and represents a historic step for the entire province.

What does the agreement provide?

The protocol establishes the associated management of numerous functions and services, including:
Civil protection and coordination of first aid
Public procurement and contract management
Environment and biodiversity protection
Culture and enhancement of the landscape
Local police and urban security
School Buildings and Building Maintenance
Water services and local transport
Management of municipal personnel and assets
Tourism and promotion of the territory

First objective: the strategic road connection

As a first concrete action, the Conference of Mayors approved the proposal of the mayor of Apice, Angelo Pepe, regarding the construction of a road connection between Asi Benevento, Apice and Castel del Lago. The work, financed with almost 6 million euros from the Development and Cohesion Fund, aims to improve connections between the Naples-Bari motorway and the ASI industrial area, ensuring more efficient and safe mobility.

A turning point for Sannio

"This protocol marks a turning point for our territory," declared the mayor of Benevento, underlining how collaboration between municipalities is essential to optimize services and attract investments. The goal is to transform Sannio into an integrated hub, capable of competing at regional and national levels.
