Gustavo Nocella
Rome – Gustavo Nocella, one of the most dangerous fugitives of the Neapolitan Camorra, has been brought back to Italy after his arrest last October 8 in Medellín, Colombia.
Considered a high-level “broker”, Nocella acted as a bridge between the clans of North Naples and East Naples – including the Rinaldi-Formicola, the Beloved-Pagan and the De Miccos – and the powerful Colombian drug cartels.
The 59-year-old, a fugitive since 2021, had been wanted since 2018 and definitively sentenced to 5 years and 4 months for international drug trafficking. Despite the international arrest warrant, Nocella continued to organize shipments of cocaine to Europe, moving frequently to avoid capture.
His capture is the result of a complex operation, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Naples and conducted by the Caserta Flying Squad, with the support of the Sisco of Naples, the SCO, Europol and the Colombian police. The extradition was carried out today with a direct flight to Fiumicino, where he was handed over to the Italian authorities.
Nocella was not a simple affiliate, but a strategic intermediary, capable of managing tons of cocaine between South America and Italy. His criminal network made him a linchpin between the Camorra and the narcos, guaranteeing constant flows of drugs towards Europe.
