Naples – Twelve years in prison and a fine of 60 thousand euros: this is the sentence handed down today by the seventh criminal section of the Court of Naples (president Marta Di Stefano) to the entrepreneur Giovanni fontana, considered by the DDA to be close to the international drug trafficker Raphael Imperial, also known as “the Van Gogh boss”.
According to the prosecution, Fontana would have provided logistic support to the international drug trafficking managed by Imperiale, by making available a warehouse in the Caserta area and some trucks to transport a load of cocaine headed to Australia, which never arrived at its destination.
The sentence came in line with the prosecutor's request Maurizio De Marco, who coordinated the investigation of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate which culminated, in 2022, with the arrest of the entrepreneur.
The sentence was pronounced after several hours of deliberation, following the discussion of the defense, represented by the lawyer Joseph Stellato.
The investigation is part of a wider investigative strand that aims to dismantle the international drug trafficking network linked to Imperiale, former fugitive and now collaborator of justice.
