Castel Volturno – A GPS locator proved decisive for the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Mondragone Territorial Department, who managed to recover a stolen van and report a 43-year-old Romanian for aggravated theft.
The vehicle, a Fiat Iveco Daily, had been reported stolen a few hours earlier in the province of Potenza. It was found in the Pescopagano area of Castel Volturno.
It was the GPS tracking in real time that allowed the Carabinieri to reconstruct the route of the van, which took them near a bar in Pescopagano. Once they arrived on site, the military noticed a person who, at the sight of them, tried to hide behind a low wall.
The man, a 43-year-old Romanian national, was immediately stopped and searched. He was found in possession of the keys to the stolen van, as well as two box cutters with their spare blades, a switchblade, a flashlight, a two-way radio and a mobile phone without a SIM card.
The van was seized and handed over to a partner company, awaiting return to its rightful owner.
