Several joint operations with the WWF Wildlife and Hunting Guards have led to the discovery of numerous violations of hunting regulations.
In Lusciano (CE), the military of the CITES Unit of Naples reported a 79-year-old caught illegally holding two protected birds - a Jay and a Siskin - inside cages visible from the public road, in the garden of his home.
The animals, considered unavailable property of the State pursuant to Law 157/92, were seized and entrusted to the CRAS of the ASL Napoli 1 for rehabilitation and subsequent release.
In Barano d'Ischia (NA), in the Schiappone area, the Carabinieri Forestali of Casamicciola Terme and WWF personnel found an electromagnetic acoustic decoy, 65 cartridges and 14 metal traps used for the illegal capture of wild fauna.
All the material was seized for violations of hunting regulations (L. 157/92) and the law on weapons (L. 110/75). Investigations are underway to trace those responsible.
The operation underlines the importance of continuous surveillance against poaching and confirms the constant commitment of the CC Forestale Group of Naples, in close collaboration with environmental associations, for the protection of wild fauna and the safeguard of natural ecosystems.
