Naples aims to increase urban security through an ambitious plan to enhance video surveillance.
Prefect Michele Di Bari announced this, answering questions about the need for greater control in the most sensitive areas of the city.
“We have already increased the number of cameras in critical areas in just a few months, intervening every time a criminal episode has occurred,” he explained. From Bari, underlining the institutions' commitment to ensuring citizens' peace of mind.
The project benefits from significant resources allocated by the Ministry of the Interior. “Thanks to a measure by Minister Piantedosi, Campania, and Naples in particular, will be able to count on significant funds,” added the prefect.
These resources will soon be converted into concrete contracts, which will lead to the installation of a significant number of new cameras in the city's neighborhoods and at-risk areas. The goal is to strengthen monitoring and prevention, responding to the security needs expressed by citizens and local authorities.
The increase in video surveillance is part of a broader strategy to combat crime, which combines technology, the presence of law enforcement on the territory and collaboration with local administrations.
“The cameras are a fundamental tool for deterrence and investigation, but also for restoring citizens' trust,” concluded Di Bari, highlighting how the project aims to make Naples an increasingly safe and liveable city.
