Naples – A 76-year-old Neapolitan man, with a criminal record, was arrested yesterday morning by the State Police for improper robbery, personal injury and damage, after stealing goods from a supermarket and running over an employee in an attempted escape.
The intervention was triggered following a report received by the Operations Room: the officers of the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station intervened at a store in Corso Malta, where the manager reported that the man, after stealing some food items, had left the store and got into his car.
In an attempt to stop him, two employees and the manager himself stood in front of the vehicle, but the man, in order to escape, started the engine and ran over one of the workers, before crashing into a parked car and fleeing.
Thanks to the video surveillance images and the descriptions provided, the police were able to quickly track him down at his home, where he was found in possession of the stolen goods. He was put in handcuffs. The injured employee suffered minor injuries.
