Naples – The State Police of Napoli reported two women for defrauding a 95-year-old woman living in Gubbio, returning cash and valuables to the victim that had been stolen through the deception of the “false niece”.
On March 6, officers from the Naples North Highway Police Subsection stopped a car carrying two women, already known to the police for defrauding elderly people. During the check, the officers found a purse containing gold jewelry, including a wedding ring, and 600 euros in cash.
Subsequent investigations confirmed that, a few hours earlier, the two had defrauded the elderly victim, with one of them pretending to be her granddaughter, convincing her to hand over gold and money. The women were reported for fraud, while the stolen goods were returned to the 95-year-old.
The operation underlines the commitment of the State Police in combating crimes against the most vulnerable segments of the population.
