Ottavio Bianchi: “Napoli’s Scudetto? It’s a collective success, everyone deserves credit”

NAPLES – “The Scudetto won by Napoli is a team success, the credit goes to everyone: from the club to the technical staff, obviously including the players”.

With these words,  Ottavio Bianchi – the coach who led the Azzurri to their first historic tricolor in 1987 – commented on the conquest of the fourth scudetto in the 2024/2025 season by the Neapolitan club.

“There are no starters and reserves when a team works so well,” Bianchi emphasized. “Each member of the group gave their all and this cohesion was crucial. The masseurs, the managers and even the press close to the team contributed. It’s a collective triumph.”

For the former Azzurri coach, Napoli's victory is the result of a well-calibrated mix of competence, spirit of sacrifice and unity of purpose: "This team was able to remain compact and reliable in key moments. They all believed in the goal, even taking advantage of Inter's physiological decline. But it was the ability to not give up that made the difference".

Bianchi then avoided any comparison with the champion team with Spalletti: "It's useless to make comparisons, every championship has its own history. But this scudetto was particularly beautiful for how it came about. Until a few days from the end everything seemed decided, then the race reopened and Napoli was able to stay lucid and win anyway".

Finally, a reflection on the context of the championship that just ended: "This year the direct rivals left the title fight early. In the end it was a challenge between two between Napoli and Inter, and Napoli was simply better. A victory that excited the environment and confirmed how strong and determined the group was", concluded Bianchi.
