This morning the Naples Flying Squad and the Carabinieri of the San Vitaliano Station executed a precautionary measure order issued by the investigating judge of the Nola Court, at the request of the local prosecutor's office, against eight people under investigation for various crimes against the Public Administration.
The measure affected the former mayor of San Vitaliano, Rosalia Masi, who resigned last week, her husband (former head of the Social Policies sector), the former deputy mayor, the acting commander of the Municipal Police, the former head of the municipal technical office, the head of the Ecology and Social Policies sectors, as well as the de facto administrator and the technical director of the company that manages the collection of solid urban waste.
The charges range from attempted extortion to corruption, including disrupting the freedom of auctions and misdirection. The precautionary measures adopted include two prison sentences, two house arrests, two residence bans, a suspension from the exercise of public office for one year and a ban on contracting with the Public Administration, also for one year.
According to the investigative hypothesis, the suspects would have formed a system of clientelistic and illicit power within the local authority, steering contracts and bending administrative activity to private interests.
The investigation, still in its preliminary phase, has allowed us to reconstruct a picture of irregular and personalistic management of the Municipality.
