The trophy will be presented on Sunday 11 May, during the pre-match of Napoli-Genoa, scheduled for 20.45:XNUMX at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.
The award is the result of a combination of fan votes – expressed on the official Lega Serie A website – and statistical data processed by Stats Perform, a company specializing in advanced analysis.
The evaluation system, also based on positional data tracked with Hawk-Eye technology, rewarded the completeness of the Scottish midfielder, a protagonist in both the defensive and offensive phases.
McTominay beat out five other candidates: Diao (As), ndoye (Bologna), Ondrejka (Parma), rovella (Lazio) and Soulé (Rome). The five goals scored in April alone were decisive for the victory, helping Napoli return to the top of the table.
“His impact on the championship has been devastating – declared the CEO of Lega Serie A, Luigi De Siervo –. He is the perfect prototype of the 'box to box' midfielder, capable of making the difference in every area of the pitch. With this award, McTominay becomes the first Scot to be crowned player of the month in Serie A.”
With 11 trophies in 53 total editions, Napoli confirms its position as the most awarded club in the history of the award.
