Luxury Car Gang Dismantled: 51 Under Investigation

Naples– A joint operation by law enforcement agencies has dealt a severe blow to a criminal organization specializing in the international appropriation, theft, receiving and laundering of luxury vehicles.

On behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples, the Highway Police Department for Emilia Romagna, with the support of the Highway Police Department of Catanzaro, the Flying Squad of Modena and the Carabinieri Station of Pizzoferrato, executed a local and personal search warrant against fifteen individuals.

A millionaire business between Naples and abroad

The investigation hypothesizes the participation of these people in a criminal organization dedicated to material and ideological document forgery, with operations extending across the entire national territory but with a main hub in Naples.

The investigations, conducted through targeted observation and shadowing services, analysis of telephone and cell phone records, and telephone and telematic interceptions, allowed the identification and seizure of over 40 luxury cars of illicit origin.

These cars, with a total ascertained value of over 1.500.000 euros, were subsequently exported abroad or fictitiously reimported into Italy, using fictitious companies linked to leading members of the criminal gang or through compliant people.

Searches and seizures in 8 provinces, 51 reported

The investigative activity involved a wide geographical area, with operations conducted in the provinces of Naples, Caserta, Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Parma, Chieti and Catanzaro. The searches led to the seizure of additional documentation, vehicle registration documents and license plates involved in the crime.

At the conclusion of the investigations, fifty-one people were reported to the Judicial Authorities.
