Sorrento – An initiative dedicated to education and fun involved the children of the nursery and primary schools of the “Lauro” Comprehensive Institute of Sorrento.
The little ones had the opportunity to learn the basic rules of road traffic thanks to a miniature circuit set up on the school's playing field, complete with skittles, signals and pedestrian crossings.
The event, part of a larger project to promote the culture of legality, saw the Carabinieri of the local Company actively interact with the very young. The soldiers illustrated the vehicles in their possession - from motorcycles to car radios, to bicycles - explaining their functioning and usefulness in an accessible and engaging way.
The heart of the activity was the road circuit. Wearing helmets and bibs, the children were able to try their hand at marked routes, pedestrian crossings and intersections, learning in the field the meaning of signs, right of way and correct behavior on the road. A practical experience that transformed learning into a game.
The little participants responded with great enthusiasm, asking curious questions, carefully observing the vehicles on display and facing the route as a real test of responsibility.
The initiative has demonstrated how the playful approach can be effective in transmitting important concepts from an early age, helping to form more aware and rule-abiding citizens.
