Too hot: Stellantis workers in Pomigliano cross their arms

Pomigliano – It had already happened last year and now with the almost African temperatures of these days the workers of Stellantis in Pomigliano have crossed their arms again.

The Fiom- Cgil union announced the news, explaining that the "protest is against the unbearable microclimatic conditions found inside the workshops. Temperatures, recorded by our delegates, have well exceeded 30 degrees, accompanied by extremely high humidity, making work on the assembly line impossible."

Mario Di Costanzo, automotive manager Fiom Napoli: underlined: “The current conditions seriously jeopardize the health and safety of employees, compromising their ability to carry out their work duties in a dignified and safe manner. It is unacceptable that workers are forced to operate in an environment that does not meet the minimum standards of thermal comfort.

The temperatures inside Stellantis workshops have become unbearable. We cannot tolerate workers' health and dignity being considered a secondary cost. We are calling on company management to take immediate action to improve the microclimate: if the current air conditioning systems are not sufficient, alternative solutions should be implemented, including the introduction of additional breaks to allow for adequate mental and physical recovery.

And then he concludes: “If the company management does not listen to these legitimate and sacrosanct demands, we will have no other choice than to continue with protest actions until humane and safe working conditions are guaranteed”.

But starting tomorrow, with the drop in temperatures and the expected rain, workers will return to work in acceptable conditions and not as if they were near a blast furnace.
