Afragola – “I don’t have the strength to go visit him in prison. He has to pay, he took Martina away from me, she was like a daughter to me”.
Determined, courageous, decisive in her considerations and reflections as a mother. The statements of Santa D'Ambrosio, mother of Alessio Tucci, the 19-year-old accused of the murder of Martina Carbonaro, the 14-year-old killed by stones last May 26, who broke her silence in a heartbreaking interview two days ago on PortaaPorta by Bruno Vespa.
The tragedy that shocked Afragola spared no one: two families destroyed, that of Martina, killed in a brutal ambush, and that of her murderer, overwhelmed by the horror of a murderous son.
Santa D'Ambrosio thus recounted the days of the nightmare on TV. "I thought she had run away with another boy," she admits, recalling the frantic hours of the search, when Alessio feigned anguish, joining the hunt for his young ex-girlfriend. "My son never made anything clear," she says, still unable to accept the truth.
The autopsy revealed Martina's agony, killed out of jealousy after their relationship ended. "It's not true that she left him because of a slap," insists Santa, defending the image of a son that "everyone loved."
But the reality is different: Alessio, now in prison for aggravated homicide and concealment of a corpse, has staged a macabre play, even lying to his own family.
With shining eyes and a broken voice, Santa turned to Martina's parents: "I am destroyed like you. I will always carry Martina in my heart." A request for forgiveness that sounds like a desperate attempt to soothe a pain that has no cure.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues: on June 18, a forensic copy of the cell phones seized from the Tucci family will be made. Alessio, transferred for fear of reprisals, awaits trial in a limbo of guilt and horror.
A story that left an entire community speechless, and two mothers childless. Forever.
