Camorra, fugitive linked to the Cutolo clan arrested in Algeria

After a complex investigation by the Central Operations Service, Algerian fugitive Tadimouti Mohamed, sentenced to life imprisonment for a brutal murder that occurred in 1983 in Grazzanise, was arrested in Algeria.

The man, linked to Raffaele Cutolo's Nuova Camorra Organizzata, was tracked down and captured last night, thanks to the synergy between the Caserta Police Headquarters' Flying Squad and the International Cooperation Service of Police (SCIP).

The murder Tadimouti Mohamed is accused of is that of Vincenzo Palazzo, which occurred in the context of the bloody conflict between the Camorra clans that at the time were competing for the dominance of criminal activities and control of the territory. The particularly brutal action was carried out by a commando of at least 20 people.

Before the murder, a shooting in broad daylight near the premises managed by the victim simulated a robbery. Palazzo was subsequently kidnapped and his charred body was found the following day.

After the murder, the Algerian continued to live and commit crimes in Italy, being arrested and then expelled in 1986. A fugitive since then, Tadimouti was tracked down in Algeria and arrested in execution of an international arrest warrant.

The capture is the result of a joint operation that saw the collaboration between Italian and Algerian law enforcement agencies. Once the extradition procedures are concluded, the man will be handed over to the Italian authorities to serve his sentence. The arrest of Tadimouti Mohamed represents an important result in the fight against organized crime and its ability to take root abroad.
