A moment of the NAS checks
Widespread checks by the Carabinieri of the NAS in aesthetic medicine centers throughout Italy. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, led to the seizure of 14 structures and referral to the judicial authorities of 104 owners and operators in the sector.

In total, 1,000 jobs have been carried out since the beginning of the year. 1.160 checks between beauty centers and aesthetic medical studios, with 132 irregularities found.
The military is targeting the growing offer of aesthetic treatments - from hyaluronic acid fillers to PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments - often performed without the minimum health and professional requirementsThe alarm arises from recent news stories which have seen people suffer serious damage due to interventions carried out by unqualified personnel, in unsuitable environments and with non-compliant equipment.
The checks focused on several aspects: technical suitability of equipment, hygienic-structural conditions, health authorizations and professional qualifications of operators. In particular, the treatments most subject to abuse, such as the implantation of subcutaneous fillers and the use of injectable medical devices, were scrutinized.
Northern Italy: in Milan, the Nas discovered a facility that operated both as a multi-specialist clinic and as a beauty center without any health authorization. The legal representative was reported and the activities were suspended by order of the local health authority.
Center of Italy: in Rome, a person was reported who without health qualification performed aesthetic treatments on patients, boasting foreign certifications that were not valid in Italy. Hyaluronic acid syringes, needles and medical documentation were seized.
Southern Italy: in Naples, in a pharmacy they had been started abusively advanced aesthetic treatmentsThe premises and equipment were placed under seizure.
At the same time, surveillance activities have also been extended to the web, with theblackout of illegal sites that advertised or sold prescription-only products — such as fillers and injectable medical devices — often hosted on overseas servers and operated by anonymous individuals.
“The checks are part of a context of growing concern related to the practice of aesthetic interventions by unqualified operators, in environments lacking the minimum requirements and with unsafe equipment — underlines the NAS in a note —. A phenomenon that represents a serious risk for public health and requires counteraction on multiple fronts: inspection, information and repression”.
