Illegal tourist village seized in Camerota
Camerota – A tourist village under construction along the coast of Camerota, in the heart of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, has been placed under seizure by the Carabinieri of the National Park Department on the orders of the Vallo della Lucania Public Prosecutor's Office.
The operation, which began in the last few hours, has brought to light an illegal subdivision on an area of 8.200 square meters, subject to landscape and environmental constraints in the "CIRA" area of the Landscape Territorial Plan Cilento Coastal.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the violation consists in the illicit change of intended use from tourist-receptive to residential and commercial. 66 real estate units in reinforced concrete were built, divided into 25 homes (A/3), 3 shops (C/1), 3 warehouses (C/2) and 35 parking spaces with shelters (C/7), replacing the pre-existing structures of the village.
An intervention that compromises an area of high environmental value, protected for its unique landscape.
The seizure represents a severe blow to the phenomenon of illegal building in one of the most suggestive areas of Cilento, with investigations continuing to ascertain further responsibilities.
