Capri revolutionizes tourist reception: priority funicular for hotel guests and new Info Points

Capri – The island of Capri launches new measures to improve the visitor experience. From June 1st, an enhanced tourist information and reception service has been active at the port, the result of collaboration between the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Capri, Federalberghi Isola di Capri and the company Porto Turistico di Capri.

Among the most significant innovations, priority access to the funicular for hotel guests and the installation of new information points.

Fewer queues, more information: what's new in Marina Grande

At the commercial port of Marina Grande new information points have been installed with hostesses dedicated to assisting visitors. At the same time, a channeling system has been implemented for public transport, including the funicular and taxis, with barriers aimed at optimising flows during peak times.

The big news is the introduction of priority access to the funicular, which from this year will no longer be reserved only for residents, but also for guests of the island's hotels. To take advantage of this preferential lane, guests will have to show a booking confirmation or a ticket provided directly by their hotel.

A “more conscious” experience for hotel tourism

“With this initiative we intend to intervene concretely to improve the experience of our guests in the area of the island that suffers most from congestion, especially during rush hour”, declared the Councillor for Tourism Melania Esposito.

“We also do this through a clear choice that aims to protect in particular the guests who, by staying in the island's hotels, aim for a more conscious experience of our territory in order to fully appreciate its rich heritage made of culture, nature, art and beauty”.

Lorenzo Coppola, President of Federalberghi Island of Capri, added: “We are thrilled to participate, concretely, in the strengthening of the reception services at the port, through the contribution of specially trained girls. We do it in the belief that the first welcome on the island must be clear, efficient and worthy of Capri hospitality.”

A step forward for the livability of Marina Grande

The project is part of a broader program of interventions aimed at improving the liveability and accessibility of the seaside village of Marina Grande. "In small steps we can say that we have started in the right direction. Marina Grande has not seen so many interventions for years, and we will not stop here", commented the Delegate Councilor Mirko Avelino, a strong supporter of the initiative.

This new service represents a concrete step to reduce the negative impact of overcrowding and ensure a better quality of welcome for all those who choose to visit and stay on the island, promising a smoother and more pleasant experience from the moment they arrive.
