Caserta, night chase on Viale Carlo III: drug dealer arrested

Caserta – A night-time chase along Viale Carlo III led to the arrest of a young pusher and the reporting of his accomplice. The operation, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Company of Caserta, ended with the seizure of cocaine and cash.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. last night, a white Fiat Panda, traveling at high speed toward the center of Caserta, was intercepted by the military of the Arma. Despite the order to stop, the driver accelerated abruptly, starting a chase that lasted several hundred meters. The escape ended in Largo Rotonda, in San Nicola La Strada, when the vehicle suddenly slowed down.

At that moment, the driver, a twenty-year-old from Caserta already known to the police, got out of the car and clumsily attempted to hide some plastic bags under the sole of his shoe. The attempt did not escape the attention of the Carabinieri, who immediately recovered and seized approximately 3 grams of cocaine, already packaged and ready for sale.

The personal and vehicle search, also extended to the passenger of the Fiat Panda, a twenty-five year old also from Caserta, led to the discovery and seizure of 310 euros in banknotes of various denominations, believed to be the proceeds of illicit drug dealing.

At the end of the formal procedures, the twenty-five-year-old found in possession of the drug was arrested and taken to house arrest, at the disposal of the judicial authorities, on charges of illicit possession of narcotics. The passenger, however, was reported at liberty for complicity in the same crime. The operation underlines the constant presence of the police in the fight against drug trafficking in the Caserta area.
