Napoli – Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has firmly reiterated his intention to maintain ownership of the club, categorically rejecting any possibility of a sale.
“As long as I'm alive I will support Calcio Napoli, then my children will decide,” he declared during a press conference with representatives of the Dimaro and Castel di Sangro training camps.
De Laurentiis revealed that he had already worked on the value of the club in the past, revealing a significant offer he received in 2018. “In 2018 I received an offer of 900 million which I refused,” the president said, underlining how today the figure is even higher.
“Today, even if they offered me 2 billion, I wouldn't sell Napoli. Because Napoli is also the idea of the city of Naples that we all like to represent together”. A statement that inextricably links the sporting destiny of the team to the identity of the Neapolitan capital.
Regarding the dynamics of the transfer market, De Laurentiis explained the complexity of the negotiations. “We are on the market, I would also like to have all the new players immediately to have them in retreat.
But the market is also about negotiation, otherwise a new player costs you on average 30% more than you want to pay for him,” he said, highlighting the importance of careful negotiation to avoid excessive expenses.
“If you want to spend 30% more, you can have the players tomorrow. But instead the market is done through a negotiation, which often includes other teams competing on the market for a player”.
The president then added another factor that influences the timing of acquisitions: the Club World Cup.
“I also remember that this summer there is the Club World Cup, and we know that if our eye goes also on some players of these teams that play until July 15; we know that they must be taken from Napoli after the end of the World Cup, to avoid them arriving injured”. A strategy that aims to protect investments and guarantee the physical integrity of new purchases.
