De Laurentiis: “Stadiums are a big problem, we are moving forward without the right measures. We need time and freedom to build”

Aurelio De Laurentiis doesn't mince his words and, as expected, transforms the presentation conference of Napoli's summer retreats into a real call to arms for Italian football. On the market, the Azzurri president preaches patience and a long-term vision, while on the sports facilities front he attacks the system head-on: “We are like dazed boxers, we enter the ring already defeated.”

When asked if he would like the team to be complete in the Dimaro Folgarida and Castel di Sangro training camps, ADL responds without hesitation: “Of course I would. But if you want to make big purchases you have to wait, observe the players at the Club World Cup, choose carefully. Spending more to buy right away? It's a trap for those who don't have vision”.

Then the conversation shifts to the other big issue that has been inflaming his personal battle for years: stadiums. And here De Laurentiis he lights up, denouncing the absurdity of a situation that penalizes Italian football: "We have a stadium that is almost always full, but how many people can actually see the game well? In Europe it's a different story. PSG invests a million a year and earns 120. We, on the other hand, only have the stadium on the day of the match and have to give it back immediately afterwards. It's unacceptable."

For ADL, a revolution is needed that starts with bureaucracy: streamlined, effective, oriented towards those who want to invest in building. Only in this way will Italian football be able to truly compete, not only on the market but also in the quality of the experience offered to fans. Because, he emphasizes, “we don't put on a show for others, but to get back to winning for real”.
