Arrest validated for Mirti murder, but a backstory emerges: "He was stabbed months earlier"

IThe investigating judge has validated the arrest and ordered the precautionary custody in prison for Salvatore Sannino, the 18-year-old accused of the murder of Nicola Mirti, the 19-year-old killed last Sunday in the “Palma Rey” beach resort in Varcaturo.

But yesterday's hearing had a dramatic twist: an episode of violence emerged dating back to September 2023, when the victim - then still alive - was stabbed in an attempted robbery.

The previous attack: the coma and the complaint

Mirti, after two months in a coma, had reported the attack suffered in Giugliano, reporting very serious injuries: a scar from the chest to the spleen, signs that he would carry forever. Sannino's defense - the lawyer Roberto Iacono - has requested investigations to verify whether his client was the author of that attack. If confirmed, it would be proof of a previous hatred between the two young men, both from Mugnano and frequenters of the area of ​​the buildings, which would have led to the tragic outcome of Sunday.

A motive for revenge?

The investigative hypothesis thus shifts from a fight over trivial reasons - an aggravating circumstance initially contested but then dropped - to a possible settling of scores. Some rumors even speak of a knife duel between the two in the Monterosa neighborhood of Scampia, even though Sannino has never directly accused Mirti.
