Tax fraud and money laundering in the Solofra tanning district: 7 arrests

Avellino – New blitz in the investigation that unmasked a criminal organization specialized in laundering illicit proceeds from tax fraud and which had as its operational base some companies in the Solofra tanning district.

This morning, in fact, the military of the Guardia di Finanza of Solofra have executed seven personal precautionary measures, issued by the GIP of the Court of Avellino at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.

Today's measures are in addition to those already taken in June 2023 and represent the epilogue of a complex investigation, which has allowed the dismantling of a complex criminal system rooted in the Solofra tanning district and active on a national scale.

At the centre of the investigation, a massive activity of laundering of illicit funds, quantified at over 60 million euros, justified through a system of false invoices issued by companies operating in the leather and IT consultancy sectors.

The investigations reconstructed the financial flows, also thanks to the analysis of documents, electronic devices and wiretaps.

 Today's raid follows arrests in 2023

The investigation has so far led to the issuing of 19 precautionary measures: 12 prison detentions, 2 house arrests, 4 bans from running a business and holding managerial positions, and 1 ban from public services.

At the same time, the preventive seizure of assets worth approximately 19 million euros was carried out, including cash, financial instruments, real estate, luxury watches, valuables and even weapons.

The investigations continue under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Avellino to ascertain further responsibilities and identify any other subjects involved in the criminal network.
