Giulio Giaccio, dissolved in acid by mistake: new hearing in appeal, compensation offered by the instigators

New chapter in the trial for the barbaric killing of Giulio Giaccio, the 26-year-old bricklayer from Pianura kidnapped and dissolved in acid in 2000 due to a tragic case of mistaken identity.

In the last hearing before the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Naples, the alleged instigators of the murder - already sentenced to 30 years in prison in the first instance - presented an improved compensation proposal to the victim's family.

The civil parties are assisted by the lawyer Alessandro Motta, while the Polis Foundation participates in the trial with the lawyer Gianmario Siani. The proceedings will resume on July 19 with the prosecution's closing statement. The news was published this morning by the newspaper Il Roma.

In the first instance, celebrated with an abbreviated rite, Carlo Nappi and Salvatore Cammarota, considered to be top exponents of the Polverino clan and accused of being the instigators of the crime. Ten years of imprisonment had been inflicted, instead, on the collaborator of justice Roberto Perrone, a self-confessed criminal.

A second strand of the case involves three other defendants: Salvatore Simioli, Raffaele D'Alterio and Luigi De Cristofaro, accused of having participated in the executive phases of the kidnapping and murder.
