Napoli – “These are two worrying episodes”. This is how the prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, comments on the two murders that occurred in the last few days in the Naples area, Cardito and Afragola, where a man was killed last night.

While acknowledging an overall reduction in crime – with a drop in homicides in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 – Di Bari stressed the need to step up prevention. “The data shows that control services are working, but we cannot be satisfied,” he told reporters after the Committee for Order and Security.
The prefect recalled that Afragola, the scene of the latest murder, the installation of 168 surveillance cameras and 22 automatic license plate readers is at an advanced stage. “This system,” he explained, “will provide valuable information for investigations and crime deterrence.”
Di Bari then wanted to thank the police and the Carabinieri for the work done: “Men and women in uniform are making an enormous effort, and this commitment must be recognized”. But, he warned, “we need to do even more”.
Meanwhile, attention remains high on the two bloody cases that have shaken the Neapolitan hinterland, while investigations continue to reconstruct dynamics and motives.
