Naples, elderly woman robbed and thrown to the ground in Vomero

Napoli – A new, brutal episode of urban violence shook via Jannelli yesterday, near the Euroesse supermarket. Around 12:30, an elderly woman was attacked and thrown to the ground by a mugger who tore a necklace from her neck, acting undisturbed in broad daylight.

The scene, of unheard-of violence, was documented by a video from the video surveillance cameras and sent by the victim's daughter to the deputy of the Green-Sinister Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli by a deeply indignant citizen.

“My mother was snatched from the neck by a brute who threw her to the ground in via Jannelli in Naples… These criminals feel like they own our city every day! Let’s all stop these episodes!!!!”, the report states.

The daughter's complaint and the shocking images

The video, shocking, shows the woman walking calmly on the sidewalk. Suddenly, a scooter approaches the sidewalk, the driver stops the vehicle, puts the kickstand and, with the full-face helmet still on, approaches the victim.

In a few seconds, with unprecedented violence, the tear off the necklace, causing her to fall heavily to the ground. Immediately after, he gets back on his scooter and runs away, leaving the old lady on the ground and a sense of helplessness in those present.

Borrelli: “Crime rules the streets”

The deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli intervened harshly on the matter, rekindling the debate on urban security. “I continue to fight against these delinquents, who however are praised by a part of our society,” declared Borrelli.

“As long as the TikTokers of the bad Naples, the pseudo repent, the children of Camorristi and various delinquents will be able to easily promote degradation on social media against legality, and as long as the number of officers on the streets is reduced, things will only get worse.”

The deputy then continued, underlining the perception of impunity: "This episode is just the umpteenth demonstration of how petty crime feels it owns the streets. In Naples, as in many other Italian cities, there is a lack of a widespread presence of law enforcement, there is a lack of fixed garrisons, there is a lack of a strategy for controlling the territory."

Borrelli also criticized current policies: “The government’s new security decree, instead of strengthening these aspects, risks weakening them further. It is a measure that is more ideological than effective, which does not provide concrete answers to citizens who are asking for real, daily security.”

The attack forcefully reignites the debate on city security and the need for a decisive change of direction: "more officers, more resources, more prevention. And less space for those who transform crime into a spectacle, to the detriment of those who live in fear every day," concluded Borrelli. The episode highlights the vulnerability of citizens in the face of increasingly brazen crime and the pressing demand for effective interventions.
