Salerno, fear on the beach: drunk threatens bathers with a screwdriver

Salerno – Moments of tension yesterday afternoon on a free beach on the city seafront, where a man, clearly intoxicated, threatened bathers brandishing a bottle of liquor and a large screwdriver.

The episode occurred on June 6th and required the immediate intervention of the police cars. Police of the State, alerted via the emergency number 112.

The protagonist of the episode is a 27-year-old Moroccan citizen, already known to the police for previous convictions for theft and resisting a public official.

The man, once identified by the agents of the Flying Squad of the Salerno Police Headquarters, was stopped and subjected to a search. During the check he was also found in possession of a small dagger with a steel blade, as well as objects considered suitable for burglary, including altered keys and lock picks. Everything was seized.

Taken to the police station, the 27-year-old was reported for unjustified possession of burglary tools and for violating an expulsion order issued by the Turin Police Chief, who ordered him to leave the country.

During the same day, the authorities ordered the transfer of the man to the Repatriation Detention Center (CPR) in Potenza, where he will remain awaiting the execution of the repatriation procedures. The operation is part of the broader control and security device set up on the Salerno coast in view of the summer season.
