A neighborhood under siege, two shootings a few months apart, a settling of scores that drags on amid threats, gunshots and serious injuries. This is the scenario that emerges from the investigations of the Carabinieri of the Salerno Company, culminating with the arrest of Alfonso Irno and Giuseppe Pietrofesa, both reached by a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the GIP at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
Pietrofesa is accused of attempted murder for having fired at least four shots at Irno on September 15, 2023, at the height of a violent altercation. The bullets narrowly missed the target, seriously injuring the victim. Irno, in turn, was also framed for a second episode, which occurred on February 1, 2024, when a bartender in the Matierno neighborhood was hit by gunshots in broad daylight. An ambush that did not go unnoticed even at a national level: the episode was in fact mentioned in the Ministry of the Interior's Report to Parliament, among the most significant acts of intimidation recorded in the city.
Now, after months of intense investigations, comes the investigative breakthrough. The very serious accusations tell of a growing tension that has transformed the streets of Matierno in a theater of fire, with dynamics that are yet to be fully clarified but that lay bare a reality of violence and control of the territory. Justice is taking its first steps, but the climate remains incandescent.
