Caserta – A dramatic turn of events shakes up the case of the 16-year-old Pakistani arrested last March 26 in the Caserta area on charges of attempted murder against his mother.
The Court of Cassation has annulled the minor's arrest in prison, sending the case back to the Juvenile Court of Napoli. The decision comes in the wake of new and disturbing defense investigations that hypothesize a possible poisoning of the boy, and perhaps also of his brothers, which occurred in the family home where the stabbing occurred.
The story is complex and has its roots in a dramatic family context. The 16-year-old, along with his two brothers and little sister, had accused their mother of sexual abuse. The woman, for her part, filed a counter-complaint, claiming that she was the victim of sexual abuse by her husband and that the man had manipulated his children to induce them to report false violence.
These serious mutual accusations had pushed the Juvenile Court of Naples to remove the boys from the custody of both parents, placing them in the same home for the protection of abused women where the mother had already taken refuge. It was precisely in this protected context that, in March, the dramatic stabbing occurred.
The defense investigation, conducted by the lawyer Luigi Ferrandino (who defends the minor with his colleague Domenico Cesaro), revealed shocking details. From the tests carried out at the time of the arrest of the young man at the Juvenile Penal Institute of Nisida, it emerged that in the period preceding the attack, the boy had been administered "highly poisonous" quantities of ecstasy, opiates, methadone and barbiturates.
“The suspicion is that the mother may have tried to poison her son to prevent him from testifying against her for the crime of sexual abuse,” said attorney Ferrandino. “Having failed, she may have tried to stab her son, who, however, after taking the knife from his mother, defended himself by hitting her.”
Faced with these new elements, the father of the four minors filed a formal complaint yesterday, requesting that urgent tests also be carried out on the other three children, currently still guests of the shelter. The aim is to verify whether the alleged poisoning attempt had also been made against them.
