Naples- A new weather alert has been issued in Campania. The regional Civil Protection has issued a warning. yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms valid for the day of Monday 28 July, from 9:00 to 23:59The decision comes on the basis of assessments by the Functional Centre, which detected unstable and rapidly evolving weather conditions.
The areas affected by the alert are:
- 1 ZoneCampanian Plain, Naples, Islands, Vesuvian Area
- 2 Zone: Upper Volturno and Matese
- 3 ZoneSorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, and Picentini Mountains
- 4 Zone: Upper Irpinia and Sannio
- 5 Zone: Tusciano and Alto Sele
Le rainfall They could be intense even over short periods of time, accompanied by lightning, hail, and gusts of wind, with possible damage to roofs, exposed structures, and public greenery. The triggering of landslides, mudslides, and flooding cannot be ruled out, as well as water flowing onto roads and rising river levels.
La Civil protection invited the interested Municipalities to activate the Municipal Operations Centers (COC) and to adopt all measures envisaged by municipal civil protection plans, both structural and organizational, to prevent and mitigate the effects of severe weather.
