Highway Patrol Blitz on the A16: Alcohol and Irregular Food Seized

Pratola Serra – A large-scale seizure of 500 litres of spirits and 550 kg of food was carried out this morning by the Avellino Highway Police on the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway, near the Avellino Est junction.

During a routine check, the officers stopped a truck driven by a 31-year-old Pakistani, resident in Casal di Principe (Caserta). On board the vehicle, the following were found:

40 boxes of bottles of alcoholic beverages without the State Monopolies seal (violation of tax regulations);
Food products (meat, cheese, vegetables and milk) stored at abnormal temperatures, with obvious risks to public health.
Report and measures

The driver was reported at large for violation of health and tax regulations. All the goods, deemed unfit for consumption, were seized and will be destroyed.

The operation is part of targeted controls to repress the illegal transport of goods, often linked to smuggling and tax evasion. The authorities have highlighted the serious health risks deriving from the consumption of improperly stored food and alcohol.

Investigations underway to verify any connections with illicit distribution networks.
