With these words, the prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, wanted to reassure the population during a press briefing dedicated to the bradyseism emergency in the Campi Flegrei.
The earthquake, the most intense in the last forty years, was clearly felt throughout the Phlegraean Fields area, but thanks to its depth and position in the open sea, it did not cause significant damage.
“Apart from a few small localized interventions – the prefect specified – the municipalities of Naples, Bacoli and Pozzuoli have not reported any particular critical issues”.
Di Bari underlined the institutions' commitment to managing citizens' concerns: Strengthening controls in risk areas, particularly in Bacoli;
Work on escape routes, coordinated by Commissioner Soccodato;
Government funds of 600 million for multi-sector interventions.
“We are acting promptly and continuously – concluded the prefect – because the safety of the Campi Flegrei is an absolute priority”.
Meanwhile, the Civil Protection remains vigilant, ready to intervene in case of new tremors.
