Chaos at Click Day among the unemployed in Naples, clashes in the streets, and the City Council attacks: "Transparency is needed."

Naples is once again ablaze with anger. A morning that was supposed to bring hope to hundreds of unemployed people turned into chaos, tension, and police charges. The long-awaited Click Day—an online application process for training internships for 800 long-term unemployed people—proved to be a technical and human failure: the platform was completely blocked, making access impossible from 9:XNUMX AM.

As frustration mounted, hundreds of people took to the streets to protest. At the port entrance, moments of high tension with law enforcement erupted, culminating in three protesters, two men and a woman, being taken to police headquarters. Their whereabouts are now being investigated.

But the controversy wasn't just stirred on the streets. The issue also fueled tensions in the halls of power in Naples. During the City Council meeting, the leaders of the council groups temporarily suspended the session to meet with a delegation of unemployed workers, who had already been reporting irregularities since the previous evening.

The City Council's response arrived promptly. Councilor for Youth Policies and Labor Chiara Marciani, along with City Council President Vincenza Amato, wrote an official letter to Undersecretary of Labor Claudio Durigon and the Prefect of Naples Michele di Bari—with a copy to Mayor Gaetano Manfredi —to request the immediate suspension of the procedure. The goal is clear: to initiate all necessary checks, identify any irregularities, and ensure equal access for all interested parties.

If the anomalies are confirmed, the Municipality will also request the cancellation of the procedure, to restart from solid and transparent foundations. Click Day, created to offer opportunities, today leaves only bitterness, suspicion, and a collective cry from those demanding dignity and justice.
