The instigator of the Aiello murder in Castellammare has been arrested.
CAstellammare – More than seventeen years after the ambush, the Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata group have arrested the alleged instigator of the murder of Pasquale Aiello, 49, believed to be affiliated with the D'Alessandro Camorra clan and murdered on January 8, 2007, near his home in Castellammare di Stabia.
One of the cold cases in the Castellammare Camorra war has been solved. Aiello was killed in his home on Via Pantanelle while his mother was sleeping upstairs. The killers knocked on the door and riddled him with bullets as soon as he opened it.
The precautionary custody order, issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples at the request of the Anti-Mafia District Directorate, charges the suspect with murder aggravated by premeditation, mafia methods and the purpose of facilitating the D'Alessandro clan, active in the Stabia area.
According to investigators' reconstruction, it was the arrested man who gave the order to eliminate Aiello, who was then fatally shot with multiple bullets. The murder, investigators maintain, was part of the criminal group's territorial control strategy.
The investigation, reopened thanks to new evidence, is part of a broader investigative effort aimed at shedding light on incidents of violence linked to the feud between rival clans in the Vesuvian and Castellammare di Stabia areas.
