Corruption in green care contracts: searches in Piedmont, Campania and Molise

Blitz of the Guardia di Finanza in three regions as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in contracts for the maintenance of greenery along state roads. Searches and seizures were carried out in Piedmont, Campania and Molise, with the help of canine “cash dog” units, specialized in identifying hidden cash.

The investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Novara, revolves around a company based in Molise, which was awarded two public contracts for the maintenance of street greenery in various provinces, including Novara. According to investigators, the investigations are centered on hypotheses of corruption and administrative liability of the corporate entity.

The Guardia di Finanza carried out house, personal and computer searches, which also involved three public officials residing in Piedmont. In particular, computers, documents and approximately 140.000 euros in cash were seized, as well as bills of exchange for a total value of almost 40.000 euros.

The investigation, still in its preliminary phase, aims to shed light on any illicit agreements between the Molise company and the public officials involved in the management and awarding of contracts.
